Default carb'd gen IV LY6 6.0L w/GMPP LSX/LS3 dual plane intake

I just mocked up my motor with the carb and all and thought I would post up for others considering this route. I was surprised how tall the new LSX rectangular port dual plane intake is, but not worried since its going in a truck
. My OEM coil packs will be mounted behind the motor and fired by a MSD 6LS-2 (neither in the pic). the carb is a Holley 750 Street HP.

accesories, damper/pulley, and water pump removed. now its missing the VVT front cover and I'm needing to pull VVT cam too and replace the VVT stuff with something to make a bit more power.

Such a waste of good technology, there are multiple companies that make a conversion harness to retain VVT function and fuel injection that will net you better street manners, more mpg, and more power. As the old saying goes, different strokes for different folks. I imagine youre familiar with carbs and therefore feel more comfortable working with them. Should be a nice step up over the ole 350? that cam in it.

watch you're assumptions... they may lead you down the wrong paths........

and no waste....sold it all to someone else that wanted it!

1st off.....this is a street toy/race truck...not a daily driver. 2nd....I've owned numerous fuel injected vehicles and currently have an '06 LS2 powered TrailBlazer SS in the driveway we've owned since new. 3rd...that ole 350 just happened to be stroked to a 383. 4th....in numerous tests by various rags... pitting carb against fuel injection with the same motor (generally a 6.0) config...you'll find the good ole carb comes out on top in peak hp.

and anyway.............since when did moderators start shooting down someone's efforts?

My name being in green does not absolve me of my opinion. I wasnt bashing you simply stating I hate to see you get rid of such a great technology. If you really want to discuss the merits of carb vs efi much less VVT I can go into plenty of detail to show you the "light" whether you even care or not is up to you and whether you want me to post that info in here or PM me is entirely up to you. Ill excuse myself from the thread since it seems youve already taken my post the wrong way.

Lol, his name is TXoldskool....carbs fall under the old school category. Interesting project, no doubt. EFI is always going to be more precise in the fuel efficiency and power making departments, though. But I'm sure you considered that well before putting a carb on top.

Thanks guys.
Sorry slowZ71....guess I might have been a bit touchy. I know this site is pro-efi and I know the benefits (I started out in '60's-70's cars, and that was 1975)...and I think thats great for pure street cars/trucks and particularly for FI cars/trucks. That said....I never intended on adding efi to this truck that started as a 305 V6/3sp (yes...a 305 V6, google it) then a 305/350, then 383/350...and now gen IV 6.0/200-4r.

more pics of it before tearing it apart BlackGMC:

It was a good looking truck before the teardown and it’s only getting better. That and there’s no doubt in my mind that the carbureted LY6 6.0L is going to run circles around the old small-block, 383 or not.

Thats what I'm counting on! Just wondering what it will break first. I'm guessing the 12 bolt.
