Default gas vs diesel

Thinking about buying a '15 2500 but can decide on gas or diesel. I've owned gas trucks all my life but most of my company trucks have been diesels. Not very fond of diesels but they are useful.

Basically what I want to know is for typical driving what does each get mileage wise? I don't tow often anymore and mostly will be towing my jeep around so figure 7000# max. Was thinking about a half ton but I miss having the extra power my 03 2500 had but I don't miss the mileage it got. I don't know much about diesels but I can't seem to keep my hands out of gas motors so expect it to get modified

From the few members on here that have the 2015 2500 or 3500 trucks with the gas motor, they get terrible fuel mileage with the 6.0 motor. Like 11-13 on avg and someone said they saw maybe 16-17 on a longer trip.

I think it would be better to just get a 6.2 1500 if you wanted more power and keep some of the fuel mileage. The 6.2 is way more power than the 6.0 aswell.

A 6.2 1500 will be plenty to tow 7k.

I don't see the point in gas motor 2500s. If your truck has to haul anything heavier than a mattress or a coffee table, especially on a regular basis...better to just go diesel.

Based on your needs you need to decide if it's worth the hefty price premium : up front cost, fuel & maintenance.

8.1L Stage 3 - Youtube

We do. The underpowered 8.1L really wakes up with a top end refresh. Stage 3 is everything you'd ever need for fun, from truck pulls to running mid 12's in a work truck.

Can't beat a diesel. I had an '04 LLY I wish I never sold.

I've owned a '00 5.3L, an '03 6.0L and now have an '02 6.0L for reference. The sixes pull okay, but they're definitely a poor man's tow pig.

I had a 2011 ccsb 6.2 1500 and loved it but needed a diesel and got a 08 lmm and I love it! My brother bought a 2014 gmc ccsb 6.2 1500 and he tuned it. It will fly, gets awesome fuel mileage and tows pretty good! But it's still not a diesel. We both hot shot and stuff that I used to have to have our trailer to haul, I can haul it in the bed of the truck. I hauled 3k lbs to wv and got 17.5 up there and 21mpg back. I'm completely stock. It's all according to how ur gonna use ur truck. He runs 93 in his and my diesel fuel is about the same if not cheaper most places.
