Hi everyone, I have recently been looking into upgrading my lq4. I'm new to this and would like some info on if I could run a cam with this torque converter or not. I know that your cam should match your stall but everyone I see is running higher stalls than what mine probably is. I bought the truck with it in it and he never told me what the exact stall on it was and I didn't ask because I didn't plan on doing much to it. All he did was call it an "rv low stall torque converter". I'm guessing it's made for a motor home or similar application? If anybody can shed some light on this and maybe some possible cam options without having to switch converters would be appreciated!

 

You could still pick a cam in the 212/218 range to keep a low stall converter. It won't be crazy or anything but it will pick up a decent amount of power while still being mild.

Haven't heard of a RV stall converter before.

 

Brand and model number of the convertor would be helpfull.

I have a torque converter that is for a diesel using the 4L80E. It is rated at 1600 rpm stall speed. It helps control wheel spin. I suggest installing a cam that would compliment a positive displacement supercharger, and then install a supercharger.

 

What does it flash too? My stock ones have always been in the 2400 to 2600 rpm range... so is it lower than that or higher? Honestly with the brakes the truck have and a stockish LQ4 you can brake torque it to pretty much full stall too haha.

 

They are lower than stock.

 

Provided its actually been swapped..... or the previous owner even knew what a torque converter is.
