I installed the servo months ago and it has been working well. Today however while pulling a trailer, the transmission got stuck in 2nd and would not upshift. It would downshift just fine, but just got hung on 2nd and wouldn't go up to 3rd or 4th. Could the servo cause this issue possibly? It doesn't seem like its slipping, just won't go above 2nd. My next guess is that a shift solenoid or something electronic went out. It isn't throwing any codes on the dash either though.

hey my vette servo did not come with the pin, that AC delco pin that you are suppose to have. anyone have that part number ill jsut get it locally, not gona wait for a week to get it from oregon performance.

i musta never thought id need the long pin too, didnt see that in the website. i guess its 45 bucks for that vs. 15 for just the servo.

and on a side note im having BBP retune for me and told them about the vette servo, but not the long pin. would that make a difference in the tune?

Hey man. I have a 99 Z71 with a 5.3. i just read this on the ******* at workon monday, bookmarked it, then ordered the parts off ebay. $13.75 for US made parts that arrived in two days, but not from oregon performance or whatever. It was CT powertrain I think. In the mailbox on halloween and installed the day after.

Man she now shifts good. Especially for having 204k on er. The vette servo really made a noticeable difference in the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Nice and quick, but not neck breaking by any means. I'd say just perfect.

Great writeup by the way. Helped me out quite a bit. Even being a mechanic, I still don't **** with trannys, but this was easy enough. Minus the custom clearancing on the floorboard.

Thanks again

Default Servo cover help

I got the cover on so that the cover's o-ring is inside the rim on the servo slot.(therefore, it isn't very easy to get the cover off without cutting the o-ring.) I now am going to put the c-clip back in place, but it seems very difficult to compress the cover with one hand on a prybar so that I can put the clip back in with another hand. Did another person help you? I've taken the assembly out multiple times and re-checked everything to ensure things were properly placed...and they were. Should the blue o-ring not be seen anymore after the c-clip gets put back in? It seems that I'm using wayyy more force to compress the cover now than when i took it off.

I had to force mine pretty hard to get the o-ring past a certain point and then it slid in easier and I was able to get the clip on there.

Only thing I can think about in the back of my mind is that what if the springs inside fell off and is now not allwoing it to move back enough for you.

My trans tunnel did not look the one in OP's pic. I had to disassemble the 2nd apply piston from under the truck, then was able to get the assembly on the bench to swap out the spring, the reassemble everything under the truck. I had the truck on ramps so I was able to use the ramps as my pillow for my head so I can see to make sure the c-clip gets seated. I found out the pin shaft was worn or mushroomed so the 2nd piston was stuck to the pin so I had to deburr the edge to get the piston to slide out.

Love the nice 1-2 bump and dunno if it's a placebo effect but it seems to pull stronger when accelerating at 2nd. Also probably due to the early shift nature of the trans where it goes into 2nd while making a turn it does make it feel uneasy at times.

I wonder if disconnecting the battery for the transmission to relearn shift patterns might help take full advantage of the servo.
