I'd like to pick up a new Mini-14 in 6.8, build a short little 10/22, build a "do-everything" 870, pick up a single action Colt and a Marlin 1894 both in 44-40.

Yeah the 7.62 ARs seem to be a bit pricey but I want to do it right. The 5.56 is just too small to be useful in killing something without a precise shoot and rarely when spotlighting hogs do you have that chance.

Play the game right and you can have a nice AR built under a grand, check out my feral hog thread.

I built my lower, next up is to build a new upper. With the amount of time you spend online bickering about calibers and distances, you could research and build one. I also have a copy of a awesome book that may help you! I could try to copy it and mail it out.

A 7.62 AR for under a grand? I'm all ears on that one.

32" barrel. 1:12 twist rate. and a healthy dose of reloader 15. my gun smith down here has built a bunch of them, he can also build a wicked 7mm STW...

I only talk about stuff I already know about usually during the day since researching stuff on my phone is a pita. When I'm at home I'm busy with other crap. I haven't found any NEW 7.62 for under a grand.

7.62 x 39

I am lost here...you can get that upper for under $800

SCOUT -7.62x39

So with a lower you can have it for $1k. Buy a cheap lower at $50-$90, parts kit $45-$60 and stock kit for $45-$80

As I said, do it right, and it can be done. My 6.8 was under a $1k, I did however buy a used upper (part of playing the game "right") and built my lower. RRA enhances LPK $145, Spikes stripped lower $95, stock was a freebie, but they can be had for around $50. Upper was $625, ARP built, so it was quality! Nothing sacrificed. Want a cheap scope mount? Guy on 68forums has Larue style for $20, botach has PEPR for $66

Need I go on?
