I was referring to this.

haha hows the barrel life of the 7 STWs? 500rds
hes going to build mine on a savage 110 action and i'll probably ahve him mill it down to a med. palma to keep weight down a bit. I'm having trouble remembering if the 32" was with or without the break. he has built a few on 700 actions and at least 1 (that i know of) on a 110 action. he builds alot of 30" 244's on savage and 700 actions, long and short.

I've had no interest in building a stw so I haven't asked. Next time im out his way I'll ask.

So it will cost you about $300 to build a lower, find an upper for $700 or lower, which is possible, so once again, it can be done. Deals, folks, deals. I don't buy the first thing I see, or the biggest "craze" at top dollar.

And I knew the difference, I assumed for those interested had researched enough by now to know.

Just because its cheap doesn't mean its a good deal. I know your point was to show us how cheap you could find the parts, but you're still at $1000 or more with cheap parts

Not so much on the lower (minus parts kit, that's important). But the upper I'd much rather go with a good brand. There's no point in skimping out on better parts when feeding the rifle is going to cost you much more

The infamous chart

What did you not understand about doing it right? Going with the cheapest of everything is not going to net the results I want.

Thats like building a heads and cam motor with patriot heads, and a shelf cam. Sure itll run pretty good, but it wont be the best it can when you couldve spent a few more dollars on a custom cam and a set of AI heads. Still may not be the top of the line like solid roller setup with MAST heads but its the best bang for the buck.

Its cheaper to build it right the first time than twice.
