Your gun "to-do" list for 2012

[QUOTE=FarmerBeau;4892565] I kinda fell off the rest and I'll pop off 3 shots in 5-7 minutes and I'll clean the bore every 12 shots or so. QUOTE]
This could be your problem.... Let it get a little more seasoned before ramming a rod down it.
Shoot about 1 minute apart and do it for 20-30 rounds and see if it starts to shoot any better.
I had an old 308 that clean cold bore was a good 1.5" off and wouldn't group until I got past 15-18 rounds then it would shoot .75MOA consitantly until it hit about 100 rounds then I would wet a patch and run down it and clean her up a hair and then keep grouping. I never ever kept that gun really clean.
also shoot like this with something in the 195-215 grain area with a high BC bullet. It sounds weird for factory ammo but they are out there. I think HSM does some heavier berger VLD stuff. Try it and see you may be victim to over cleaning.

)I'll let it get a bit more copper in the barrel. The problem with the WSM (and any other short mags for that matter) is they are lacking in casing volume. The rule of thumb for the .300 WSM is you start losing room for powder when you exceed 180 gr of projectile. I know other factors come into play and there are ways around that but I'm kind of kicking myself for not just being normal and getting the tried and true .300 win mag. (cheaper and more plentiful ammo, more common, more wiggle room for different loads, etc).

I'll give it a try although I must admit, I already have the gunstore looking for that savage 10/110 FCP HS-Precision in .338 Lapua Mag. Whoopsies.
I'll keep it if I can get it to group. Methinks I'm going to have to break down and get the reloading equipment, especially if I get that Lapua (($5-10 a shot.

and anywhere else in between where people allow me to use their land. I have access to about 3k acres about an hour from my casa that's just farmland. I haven't brought my 300 out there yet because if it can't group for **** at 100, why burn the fuel to take it out to 800?

Damn youse!
I just hate the savage action. It just feels cheap. I was raised on a Remington 700 action but its hard to swallow these savage groups these guys are putting down for less than half the cost of my tricked out 700.

my first 3 bolt guns were 700's i thought they were the best, then traded a set of 243 Cyl heads for a Savage 110 7mm Mag. and now its a 300WM thats just awesome.

Well, I am thinking of getting an 308 ar. I like the 18"-20" model. Would they be considered as best pointer shoot. I am searching for 308 ar manufacturers for buying this type of gun.

build one, buy a stripped lower for around $250, get your LPK and stock, buy a complete upper or build it, save you money, or spend the same on better ****, rather than buying a complete gun.

Well, we picked up an LC9 with the LaserMax for the wife a few months ago; just received the Theis IWB in the mail a couple days ago and Tommy's workmanship is just as good as the CrossBreed I use off-duty for my H&K P2000 .40 and cost a good deal less (plus CrossBreed didn't care for my business enough to give me any other response than 'we don't support that gun/laser combo' to my repeated e-mails stating my desire to stick with them and inquiries regarding whether they were planning to EVER develop a holster for that combo).
I pulled my Remington 11-87 out of the closet for the first time in a few years and gave it a decent cleaning and inspection. My goal with this is simple: get out and shoot it sometime this year.
I picked up a complete AGP Arms AR lower (they machine the receiver and outfit it with Palmetto State Armory furniture) and my goal is to have a 300 BLK (300 AAC Blackout for the uninitiated) upper on it with 400+ rounds of 300 BLK ready to go by winter.
