Federal vital shocks group great in my r700 300 wsm
Federal Premium - Rifle Ballistics
The flyer is usually the second and/or third shot. Sometimes it'll stack shots in the flyer hole and the damn first shot will be flyer. Did that make sense? My rifle (and yours too probably) is a 1:10" twist which usually needs a heavier projectile. The 190 gr Nosler's I have grouped the same as the 165 gr Barnes TSX... Dunno

how was the barrel broken in?

Are you only shooting factory ammo?

have you shot anything over a chrono?

No chronograph... but I know what you're getting at. I probably need to go ahead and throw the $175 at a chrono and reloading equipment but I still find it difficult to believe that all these different types of ammo I have shot are producing the same pattern.

I'm going to the range today and I'll post up my targets. I'm gonna have the gunsmith check my barrel crown (which is essentially hidden by the muzzle brake on my way back from the range.

****! Missed some of your questions.

I have only shot factory ammo. My work schedule keeps me from reloading but I have before and I want to get back into it.

Barrel was broken in as follows. Clean after single shot for the first 20 with shots about 3-5 minutes apart. The next 40 rounds the barrel was cleaned every 2 shots with 3-5 minutes separating the shots. I kinda fell off the rest and I'll pop off 3 shots in 5-7 minutes and I'll clean the bore every 12 shots or so. I don't reload yet so I don't have any fouling rounds but accuracy is similar across the board (the fusions didn't group at all in my opinion).

Ive never had any luck out of factory ammo, never had any of the rounds hit the same hole at 100..

Got to tinkering with reloads and it was like magic..

Have you checked the TQ on your action bolts?
Playing with the TQ numbers sometimes you can get some good results like less flyers.

haha. That's what I thought too. I was like, "Well maybe I just suck at this!" So I brought two of my friends to the range and they had the same results... I shot it today and here's what I got.

I hate to say it but if I can't get this thing to group better, I'll go buy a savage...
