Default Saiga ak47 coversion

Just picked this up and im gonna be converting or restoring this Saiga ak47. All new furniture, moving the trigger forward and putting on pistol grip. Might even do threads for a muzzle brake.

This is what im starting with.

And hopefully end up looking like this. Except with a adjustable stock.

Cool!

I bought the same gun / came with the monte carlo stock.

I put an adjustable Tapco pistol grip stock and forearm grip, along with a 30 round clip.

Didnt move the trigger though, how ya gonna do that?

Also my 30 round clip some times jams, With the factory 10 round, this gun NEVER jams, and shoots awesome, fukin loud too!! I love it.

Pic w/o the forearm grip.( only one i have)

got to drill out rivets and move it up. only reason there back is because the ak47 was shipped as a hunting rifle to meet us standards for shipping over seas. lol your not in compliance with 922r with that 30rd mag but oh well who is gonna check.

I never did follow rules very well haha.

You Def. need to post up pics when yours is done or along the way would be cool.

So its as simple as moving the trigger guard, no internal mods?

You need to put a bullet guide in it Tim.

Have to drill and make threads to put a bullet guide in for the reg ak mags and some have to grind on the mag catch as well. The saiga mags wont work anymore if you do.They sell kits so you can move the tigger up. but you allready got your pistol grip in from the stock. If you like it like that dont spend the money to move it up.

The Tapco G2 FCG is lightyears above that stock trigger so to speak.

As far as the bullet guide, check out the usual sites for Saiga conversion parts....CSS (Carolina Shooters Supply), Dinzag, MAA (Mississippi Auto Arms), & SaigatechUSA.

CSS has informational videos on their website for bullet guide installation.

I didn't buy any "kits" and just did the conversion in an afternoon. The little things like axis pin retaining plate can be substituted with good ol c clips. I threaded my own barrel, reused the trigger guard, & vented the stock handguard. 500 rounds later along with a drum dump & this rifle is fun as $hit to take out especially with that new trigger.
