Legality?
So my grandfather passed about 3 moths ago and we are now going about dividing his belongings amongst the family.
He had 4-5 handguns not sure what they are... But my dad is getting all of them. I have been wanting one for a long time now and looks like ill be getting one of them. I'm assuming they were all registered to my grandfather in Louisiana.
What needs to be done for me to legally posses it? Plan is to keep it at home and carry it on trips in the car, possibly daily in the car.
Later today ill get back with specifics on the guns.

1st off sorry for the loss of your grandfather.
But to your question, I highly doubt that any of your grandfather’s guns were registered, as in most locations the sales records are kept in the store and not actually turned over to anyone and beings you’re from Texas you won’t need to worry about registering them either. As long as you don’t have a criminal background and can legally possess a firearm, you can take your grandfather’s gun home and enjoy it without worry. Depending on how long it’s set around, especially if you’re not too familiar with guns, you may want to take it to someone to be gone over and cleaned to make sure it’s safe to be fired before doing so. Even if you found that it is unsafe condition to be reliably fired, depending on what it is, you may want to keep it for display as a family heirloom.

Nice, thanks for the info. looks like I'm getting a 38 revolver.
He had a ruger supcompact semi, so small it looked like a toy in my hand he bought it for my grandma who never carried it.
A 22 mag revolver that I had no interest in
A 9mm compact that my dad laid claim too.
Though I think I'm going to buy something I really want pretty soon.
