Finally got this thing back Friday evening. I purchased it as a 16" barrelled rifle, filed the NFA forms, then sent it off to a local smith for the barrel and gas block work. It originally came with black plastic handguards, but swapped those out for some Russian wood handguards. Turned out exactly how I wanted it

It's 7.62x39, not 5.45x39. No twist rate issues to worry about.

This thread is old as hell but can't help myself from commenting. That gun is dead sexy. I'd love to have it in 5,45 with a red bakelite pistol grib. That stamped sheet metal side folder is the ****.
