I've never had an issue there, I had worse luck with the front take-down pin more than anything.

I just use the razor blade trick when assembling the front take-down pin, it's a little awkward by yourself but can be done.

yeah, those SOB's can be tricky. There is a specialty tool, but I didn't want to purchase it

The pliers trick worked great!

got a guy in the shop making me a long tap that will thread it and i can be back behind the lower so it wont get scratched up.

Seekins precison does that instead of roll pins

I just bought a Stiller Predator XT and the rear pin for the takedown pin has got a set screw so everytime I take the butt stock off the spring stays intact

Use a set of plain old pliers, tape up the jaws so you don't scar the the aluminum and just push the roll pin through with the pliers set at the wide jaw position. I learned this from Scott at SD and it works great. Just get it all lined up and start the roll pin and it will push right into place with out any hesitation. using a Hammer and a Punch on the that part is awkward and can cause damage as you have seen...

Used this trick last weekend when assembling a couple of lowers, works great and MUCH better than using a punch and hammer.
