75M is weak. Try shootin a 45acp at 250-300yds.
Talk about rainbowing them in! Haha.

But anyway, grab you a 9mm since ammo is a lil cheaper and go have fun. Dont over think it.

I would just say get something that you're comfortable with. 9mm, 40, 45, Hell go with a S&W 500 if it makes you happy. Just remember though, you can never miss enough shots to equal a hit. So whatever you choose, practice a lot.

To the OP, I would go with a .40 for home protection. If you get an XDm, there are kits for the .40 where you can run 9mm ammo, but not the other way around. Forget the company.
I do have a green laser for it to so that might be a bit overkill. Overkill would be the ruger Alaskan my dad owns. Look that thing up

I was just poking fun at your typo (40mm instead of .40)

Checked out the Ruger Alaskan, as well as some youtube videos of girls trying to shoot it. That is a serious hand cannon!

Tell him to buy a 500 magnum, those are real fun if he likes his 454 casull, roughly twice the power
