When cold out side truck will not start.
#1
Started getting some cold weather here in fl and have had some issues with truck starting in the morning. I turn the key over and nothing happens. No clicking or anything. The Gage's do the same thing as if it were starting but engine doesn't even turn over. After trying it for 5-10 min it will all of a sudden work fine and works fine for a few days. I've already checked the battery connections. Anyone had this problem before? My first guess would be the starter but why would it only not work on cold mornings and be fine the rest of the day?

Check your battery ground. I had a lot of wierd issues on my denali, and when I added a 2 AWG ground from the post to the frame rail they all went away. The original ground still looked good, bolts were tight, etc. but I'll chalk that up to internal corrosion of the wire inside the jacket.
Also, I had several no-start instances in my 2000. Simply clipped the ends off the cables and switched over to top post (already had a 34/78 battery with both styles) and all my issues went away. Ended up doing a #2 AWG ground and alt. to battery on the truck a little later and it fixed a lot of low voltage issues I was having even with a small stereo. It was sucking 90+ amps through the #8 that is sheet metal screwed to the fender.
Ended up with the extra ground on my denali added onto the top post, left the factory in the side. Had a stinger gold plated side post rolling around the tool box so I replaced the factory + with that along with a #2 AWG from the alt. to the "jump box" (red box where the battery, starter, and alt. come together) and it charges a hell of a lot faster.
