Default What's the best Tuning software to reflash stock ecm?

Hi I'm new here just picked up an 06 silverado 5.3 a couple months ago and plan on doing a small na build with it. I'm wondering what the best tuning software is for the oem ecm if you can even tune the oem one. Thanks in advance!

If your PCM is a blue / green connector P59 PCM, I use some free tuning software - "Tuner Pro RT" for the editing of the tune and then either "LS Droid" or "PCM Hammer" to do the reading and writing - You Tube videos exist for all three of these. Though I'm also growing fond of another program called "Universal Patcher". A bench power and signal harness is required here rather than doing it all inside the vehicle. I also highly encourage these experiments using a junk yard spare PCM / ECM and leave your original unchanged until you gain experience doing tuning.

Then, there's always "HP Tuners" for tuning.

Why get 4 different apps when you can get one program that has TONS of support, its own forum, a bunch of users on this site alone?

HPTuners for sure

Hello,

Because I don't like paying fifty dollars each per HP Tuners credit when I can otherwise do it for free.

Tuner Pro is going to force you to use a 04 OS with a blue green PCM because of lack of XDF files for all the different OS used in those different year PCMs. That is not going to be compatible with 06 ETC/pedal/TAC. I've seen so many screwed up vehicle tunes by people thinking they can run any 03-07 classic truck on that 04 OS that has a xdf file available for it not knowing all the differences in those year model trucks. As much as I hate what HP Tuners has become and their new MPVI 2 it is still the best and most cost effective commercial tuning solution around.

Rick
from what i understand, credits are per vehicle/VIN (not per flash), and depending on the complexity of the PCM, vehicles range between 1-3 or 4 credits.
