What to change with Predator?
#1
OK, I know most of yall know a lot more than me about these programmers. What do you suggest I change for the best performance without messing up my truck? I already installed the 87 octane tune and turned off the torque management, speed limiter and made the WOT shifts (Tow/Haul only) 10% firmer. What should I do differently? Any help is appreciated.

If your useing the 87 tune then your not really looking for performance. If you like the way it shifts, and the feel of less TM then your pretty much there. with 87 you can't do much more. if you wanted to add timing it would just be pulled at the first hint of knock. you can try it, then watch it with the predator and see whats happening. I used the predator for 1 1/2 years and loved it.

YES!!!! I Got 30 more miles per tankfull just by switching from 89 to 93 octane. if you where to figure out "cents per mile" it's cheaper to run premium. and since I'm running it anyway thats what I tune for. also there's a gas station here that every friday has premium for the price of midgrade.

Did you mean add timing with the 93 tune? if so then by adding timimg you have the chance under perfect conditions it will advance into your new timing limits. "But" just because you add it doesn't mean it will get there. once it detects knock it will pull the timing back. so you may have some gains there, maybe Not.

Yeah, it's the same here. I always ran midgrade. then when I saw the gas station had premium for the same price (on Fridays) I tried it, and was blown away to find I got 30+ more miles per tank full just by useing premium. and to figure out how many miles per tank of mid, then miles per tank of premium, it's cheaper to run the premium. it cost more to fill up. but you get more miles per tank. so in pennies per mile it is cheaper. try it, I hope it works for you too. so when I got my tune I did the 91/93 cause thats what I ran anyway..

Does anyone think I should advance my timing? I switched to the performance tune with 93 octane and was really surprised at the difference. Any and all help is appreciated. Also if anyone thinks I should do anything else with it let me know. Thanks.

Just use the Tune Diablo installed onto the programmer. The one problem with the Diablo is that it's not really flexable with tuning. There are only certain things that you can do with it. If you want a better tune, you need to do a dyno or get a custom tune from a pro tuner. The tune that Diablo installed on there is probably the best you are going to get from it. There may only be a couple hp to squeeze, but it's so hard to get it, that you will end up not nailing it and losing hp without an actual dyno.
