ve tuning ? need some help
#1
well guys started tuning my little brothers 70' k5 blazer after the 5.3 4l60 swap. installed a 218/224 cam and were tryin to tune the ltft. im fairly new to tuning and this is the first time ive done it. doing it the hard way because no wideband
. heres a quick rundown. set maf fail to 0, no error reported for p1001, p1002, p1003, copy high octane spark to low table and reset fuel trims in the scanner before logging. after about 2 good sesions the numbers start going back the other way. (get down to about 5 to 6 ish% and then start getting back up to like 10 to 12%) i am coppying the average from the ltft histogram and adding it to the ve table. what am i doing wrong? never went above 85% tps so pe was never entered. under the vcm controls there is a on/off button for fuel trim learn. do i need to turn it on? this is hptuners by the way. im sure im overlooking something small. im using the guide in the sticky tuning 101. any help would be great. thanks!

No problem. Im no expert by any means. Just keep reading and you will figure out how all the table work. Just remember that almost everything you do will involve using a Map and that copy-paste-multiply

Yep, copy > paste > multiple by %
How I do it is if the LTFTs are greater than 10 then I will multiply by %. When they get within 10 I will disable LTFTs and just use the STFTs and multiply by % half to speed things up.

If you are trying to tune the VE table, then P0103 needs to be set to no MIL,if you set to no error reported,it will not throw the P0103.
in order for the MAF to fail, the code needs to be set to no MIL.
Unless I am overlooking it,you stated you set the codes to no error reported!!

so, If I throw the code then my log data is no good? When I was logging for my VE table, I did not turn it off, I set it to fail. Then while I was logging I got the CEL for the MAF...is this data any good to change the VE table?

I must've been doing it the hard way because what I did was whatever amount I had logged on the LTFT beside 0 I added or subtracted to the same cell in the VE table. Example +5 on LTFT meant i needed to subtract 5 in the same cell on the VE table since it was adding more fuel to correct that cell in the VE Table. I have another question too, copying and pasting the timing is done if i want to run a high octane fuel tune only? Oh yeah do I need to turn the fuel learn off and should I reset it every time after I log?
