Tuning for start up
#1
How have you guys made improvements to your cranking time/start up with a less than stock truck? I have tried more timing, less timing, more fuel less fuel and still have an intermitten delay before starting. It seemed to start with a walbro intake pump, I don't have a fuel pressure gauge but I think it bleeds down some pressure from sitting. Still with a key cycle to let the pump run before starting it is hit or miss. Any tips?

I emailed to you corey. I went to upload it and it says invalid extension. Maybe you can fix it. I tried to upload it in my first post as wel.....

If it's a stockish truck, you're probably bleeding pressure if you have to prime. The connection hose from the fuel pump tends to spring a small leak in it on these trucks. I would rule out other possibilities first though so you don't have to mess with that unless you have to.
Does it always have trouble after you let it sit for a long time?

My cranking VE reflects the actual VE. I have also changed the commanded fuel ratio when cranking + or - a lot.
I tried adding to the key on fuel prime quantity, didn't help.
I'll see if I can dig up a gauge to check fuel pressure with key on. Once out of every 3 or so starts during the day it will fire right off, there doesn't seem to be any certain conditions to cause this to happen. Sometimes it is the first cold start, other times it will be a hot start.
My running airflow and VE are pretty close.
The pump is a walbro and I paid close attention to the connections, I don't think they are leaking. Once and a while it will fire right off without any prime after sitting for a long 1-2 days, other times right after it gets shut off it cranks for 4-5 seconds before starting.
