Default Tuning Software?

Well I finally have the guts and money to purchase tuning software and try to tune myself! I have been looking at HP tuners, Any good? Should I get the enhanced I/O? How easy is this to use?

Is there any other brands of tuning software?
Which one would you recomend?

HPtuners is good IMO (its what I use) not sure anout the enhanced I/O. Its easy to use, just takes a while to learn what you're doing. Best advice is to read, ask questions, read some more, do some research, read some more, look at a few tunes, read, try a couple of changes, read, undo a change you made that you didnt need to make, read, etc , read.

If I could go back in time HP Tuners would have been the first thing I bought for my truck!
As far as the upgrade EIO, get it now.

Well it ooks Like I will Be getting HP Tuners!
As far as to what the enhanced I/O is ...

(We sell 2 hardware models with our VCM Suite package.
What does the MPVI Pro interface allow me to do?
With our Pro interface, you can use 0-5v signals from various sensors such as EGT, Wide Band, fuel pressure and others for sensor input in our scanner. You will have real time data from those sensors right next to your standard scan tool data such as TPS, RPM, MPH, etc.

Our MPVI Pro interface also has black box data logging built in. What this means is you will be able to scan your vehicle without the use of a laptop using the interfaces record button. You can then take the interface into your home to transfer the log contents from the interface to the computer. This will be available in a software update shortly. If you have an MPVI Pro it will require no hardware modificaiton. Also note that VCM Scanner comes with both interfaces regardless as it is part of our VCM Suite package.

Can I buy a wide band sensor and simply plug it in?
No. You need a wide band kit that supplies a 0-5v output. You will plug the output from your wide band controller into our interface.

How many external devices can I have?
We have provisions for 4 external devices that use a 0-5v output signal.)

Trust me, it is a billion time easier tuneing with a wideband with the eio cable. I have a Dyno jet which comes with its own logging software. it is a PITA to get both logs showing at the same time. Plus, with the eio cable logging the wideband through the histogram, a very useful tool!
