Default Tuning Question

I got a buddy who has an 05 Sierra with a 5.3 and he is looking to get it tuned... He was talkin to one guy who was tellin him that he could tune it for 93 octane and 87 at the same time... It sounded a little wierd to me so I figured I would ask here... Any risks that are run with that kind of tuning??? Can it be done and is it worth it??? Oh I almost forgot, when he gets his truck tuned he is putting nitrous on it and tuning for that as well.

PCM has two spark tables in it. High Octane and Low octane. This 93/87 tune has a high octane table set for the 93 octane and low octane for the 87 octane.

The downside to this is that when you run 87, the way the PCM determines to use the low octane table is by how much knock it detects. You basically ping your way down to the low octane table from the high octane table.
