So my girlfriends dad just dropped a 2000 iron head 6.0 in his 02 truck with a 4l80e, slapped a cam on it and shorty headers. He said it fired up with the 00 computer he got with the truck and I belive he said it ran with the 5.3 one too, none the less he just ordered HPT pro, because he didnt want to buy a tune, he wanted to learn how to do it himself. So Im basically looking for you're input and the best way to learn this kind of stuff, Im his "chevy guy" but when it comes to tuning I only know so much, plus I never used HPT.

i thought 00 pcms were different from 02 trucks... is he going to have a problem running his truck with one?

 

I'm not sure about the differences in the pcm's but I think he should be fine running that engine with the 00 pcm. Just have to get the necessary file from the tune repository so you can copy the needed tables to run a 6.0L and the 4L80e.
