Yes, it is worth getting a tune on a stock truck. Mine is stock except for the tune. I got blackbear to do an in person tune on my ride. Best thing I have done to my truck by far! Throttle response is MUCH better, all of the torque management is now gone. Go to: Black Bear Performance :: Custom Tuning Solutions for 96 and newer GM Vehicles for more information.

A gear swap and a tune will definitely do wonders for mileage. With 3.08 gears 4 cylinders can't pull a truck around. But 3.73 or better will be a huge difference
