tq management

have been told that tq mgmt doesnt really affect performance that much. for those of you who have played with hptuners or other tuning software, whats your idea on this? have you noticed much difference with just taking it out?

ask any reputable tuner and he knows that taking a lot of it out will free up a lot of power... Think about it... it "manages torque" thats exactly what you DONT want when trying to build big numbers either on the dyno or the street... let it flow...

You can notice a bery big difference by removing half, and about that much more from removing all of it.
Whoever told you it didn't make much difference couldn't be more wrong. Sorry.

Well ... assuming torque managelment is coupled along iwth abuse modes. Those 2 are commonly talked about together, so assuming whoever told you that was talking about both. Even still, TQM still makes a HUGE difference.

my truck stock w/ exhaust ran 10.2 in the 1/8 -----3.73's and a tune (which up'd line pressure and minimized tq management) i ran 9.8 spinning....check out wait4meperformance---tq management is about as popular with me as katalytic converters...highest priorities were to remove both immediately

He doesnt touch it unless you tell him too remove it.
Ed Wright of Fastchip removed mine 100% and it was a night and day difference,

Even if you do a rollon in with the gear selector placed 2nd or 3rd gear, the PCM still reduces timing. Its not just at the shifts. TM comes into effect whenever large throttle inputs are made, light throttle equals light TM, heavy throttle makes TM pull more timing.
TM removeal by ed Wright of fastchips made a huge difference in my 1997 RCSB Vortec 350.
