well when i did all my mods i was getting 6-8 counts of knock...so it was retarding the timing 6-8 degrees.....i pretty sure 99.9% srue that is faulse knock.....right now i just need to do the security learn to get my 01 pcm to run! it is a plug and play thing but it takes about 1.5 hours to do the securty learn! other then that i belive its good to go....

i would recomend doing it.....unless you want to try what yelo said!! i think it was yelo's thread.... you have to change something somewhere and he got rid of his faulse knock.....it was a thread started not long ago!

The older PCM's were known to sense knock when it wasnt really there. If its pulling timing it will feel weak. You should be able to log that easily with HPT. You can adjust the knock sensors to be less sensitive but you should only do that once you are 100% sure it is false knock. A 2002 and newer PCM is how most people fix this issue. I'm not sure if the 2001 PCM will fix it.

Also the security relearn should take about 45 minutes, tops. 30 if you do it exactly right. I think it takes 9 or so minutes to cycle through and you have to do it 3 times.

I dont use HPT so I wouldn't be able to look at your tune. What are your recent mods that made you get the tune?

01 will fix the issue, 01-02 pcms with last 4 of service number being 411.

will the 02 pcm out of any truck work or does it have to be a 5.3?

match your truck. just change the year. download the file from the pcm once in truck and save it as the stock file. Then do a compare to your current tune and change things to the way you want (or start over) and do a full write the first time (just for good measure, not necessary).

email your current tune and a scan of the issues with what frame you are experiencing it at and I'll host up your tune for a short while...at least until i get drunk and forget about and delete it.
