Default Timing, and hptuners

i have a couple things here......

1. How much timing are you running on the bottom end of the table compared to the top end? in general are you supposed to run 22-28 degrees wot? in my tables, and every table i've seen it seems to be much less than that in the lower end of the table, more like 15-20.

2. at 15-20% throttle, cruising on the highway i'm seeing like 37 degrees of timing. as soon as i tip into it to accelerate, it drops to like 18, that doesn't seem right to me. I'd think there should be more, to facilitate torque.

3. How do i tune a 5.3, timing wise, to have more lower end. is it just me, or with the 3.42 gears does this thing really lag until 3000 rpm?

i'm new to this, so be nice. i know basic stuff, and i'm learning by doing. ( my tune is already an established tune, by another guy on here. He knows a lot more than me, but he's always tuning his which has a stall, so i think i'm lacking low end tuning. but i could be wrong, the tune is 1000 times better than stock, so i'm not complaining one bit. I just can't leave well enough alone, i'm one of those people. so, I borrowed the laptop and i've been doing some logs and tinkering, getting better, but i want more.

ditto...what he said. Except 28 up top seems high, but I wouldn't know for N/A, so it could work well for him. Just step up until you run into some kr and then back off.

Also realize that there are other tables that play around with the actual timing you get while scanning. Some tables change the timing based on coolant temp, or IAT, or AFR ... they all play a roll in the actual timing to help keep knock in check. Usually the timing will be higher (as I have seen) in the lower portion of the table, don't know why but it is. When you accelerate the timing should pick up and not really drop. Are you referrencing from cruising or mild acceleration?

obviously the better your ve table is the more timing you can run 18 degrees at mid thottle under 1/2 load is low I run 32-28 in that area. Ive had good luck with jimmy blues timing table I have just modified it alot. Here is my table of couse I have milled heads .050 you should be able to run this table no prob.

Like flame was saying dont forget about the adder tables. I just 0 em out in the normal operating range makes it easy to tune.
