Default TB for Gen3 Yukon

I will soon be changing my intake on my 2004 Yukon that is DBW, 5.3l L59(flex). I am going to install a 92mm Holley sniper. I have read so many threads over the last 2 weeks that my head is spinning and am now more confused than ever.
What I want is a DBW 90mm throttle body that will allow me to continue using my existing tac and pedal module. Can anybody tell me the least inexpensive way to do this? If what I thi9nk I have learned is true, I'm thinking LS2 or LS3 with the X-link will work, please help as my head hurts

Turbo,

I was hoping that was true as I ordered and received the same TB. I appreciate you following up on this, now I can relax a bit!

If he talking for his colorado, that is a GEN 4 motor/computer.

They did run completely different stock throttle bodies compared to an older GEN 3 vehicle. I have no idea what will work but take that into account.

I think this should work out okay. After I posted this help thread I continued to investigate TB's as I wasn't getting a response(Iwas also getting anxious). So I called Holley tech support and spoke with them on the issue. I also called Torque Rush and spoke with them as I knew I would be needing an X-link adapter. I explained to both my set up and that I was going to a Holley High Rise 92mm Sniper intake. Both stated the same thing, "go with the gold plate LS3 TB and everything should hook up fine". I ordered one and both TB and intake bolted up just fine. It will be a bit before I try and fire the motor as I have a few more things to get through. I also have a date for Dyno tuning at SNL as I know this will require a tune since I have also installed the above plus headers and all emissions have been removed. This is a transplant so the harness and computer have been reworked for stand alone. Today I am installing LS1 injectors, so obviously a tune is a must. Thanks to all that replied, makes this forum a good place for info!
On the whole I "think" this should be good to go.

Will that TB be daily driver friendly? I've been considering upgrading my TB on my 04 Avalanche.

I have an 02 Silverado with the older style TB and it reacts faster.

The main reason might be down to the difference in cable to electronic throttle bodies between the years. They also have different torque mngt settings between those years too.

Swapping to a larger throttle body when you can't even use the extra air flow doesnt make any sense. You'd be better off with a custom tune to wake up your truck.

Yes it will work on your Avalanche provided you use a proper 3 to 4 bolt adapter, are DBW and you install an X-link harness. I actually have a 3 to 4 bolt adapter for the 5.3l that I bought and will never use. If your interested in the adapter you can send me a private PM for price and details, adapter has never been opened. I contacted the folks at Dr. X-link and they stated the adapter with the X-link will run the motor just fine. Originally I was going to slowly buy this package upgrade as I could afford it so it was my intent to get the intake at a later date but I decided not to wait and ordered the 92mm Holley High Rise. Here is the quote from Torque Rush when I asked them if the set up, just as you described, will work for daily driver...
."No tuning is required for the throttle swap itself other than possibly adjusting the throttle area scalar to match the size of the new TB. This will speed up idle learning after battery disconnects or PCM reflashes.
We use a value of .0158 for GM 90mm TBs. The GM LS3(gold blade) 90mm are commonly used. I have purchased them new on eBay for around $150. A GM 87mm (2007+ truck) TB could be found for less, but they are less reliable."
With all this said, I am an old school SBC and BBC builder and this is my first LS based motor, so I have had a bit of a learning curve. From what I have learned this should work.
