Default stupid question?

I have a stupid question. I went to unlock my truck and realized that the passenger side light did not light up. So I naturally thought it was a bulb so I replaced it, no change. New bulb and it still doesn't light. Don't know if the brake light works since I'm the only one around working on it. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has run into this and what solved it?

haven't run into this issue myself but it's sounds like quirky wiring.

use a meter with a 'max' setting and hook up to the light. Energize the light and check the meter. Since it's set to max it will display the maximum voltage. This will allow you to overcome the issue of being the only one around working on it.

Typically it's a loose connection.

It could be at the socket or it could be at the junction block under the bed.

Back up against a wall. The lights will reflect off it and you will be able to see whats working and whats not. Also dark tinted glass like some stores have works well.

it would make sense about the wiring, it does have 236k on it. I have searched all over the web to try and find that harness for the tail lights that go into that junction block by the spare tire but all I've found is the sockets and the junction block itself, not the connectors

It could also be a door ajar switch issue, the switch is made onto the latch assembly on these trucks, and it could possibly be stuck in the closed position and not turning on the light. Just a thought
