I definately would advise against locking the stock converter up at WOT. The clutch on stock converters is pretty thin and weak.....I've seen it.
Locking em up near the end of the quarter like say top of second or bottom of third gear has been proven to knock off a couple tenths but it really depends on how efficient the converter is. If you have a good efficient converter then it may not help much at all.

hmm, yea, it does. For an 04 LM7 anyway, it locks in 3rd and 4th at 75mph from 50% -100% throttle. The stock tune also allows the trans to keep the converter locked during shifts. Both of which are bad calls IMO since neither is good for the trans.
