Smoke at startup

I hope I am not celebrating too soon, but even after leaving the engine to cool overnight and several restarts, NO SMOKE!
Here is what I did.
I removed the valve covers, soaked them overnight in Seafoam, blew them out with an air compressor the next morning (both valve covers, not just the driver's side!) and reinstalled.
I have not seen any smoke since.

I also squirted the rest of the can of Seafoam into the throttle body while my girlfriend revved the engine first at 2,000 rpm and then at 3,000 rpm.
I will update this thread in a few days to see if my luck holds out.
If this issue is fixed, then this is going to be a valuable thread for future visitors to this web site, since this seems to be a very common problem.
Thank you to everybody who helped with simple instructions about things like what size sockets I needed. You saved me a lot of headaches.

UPDATE:
It has been most of a week, and no more smoke! This is great!
This thread ought to be a sticky for others who run into this problem. The fix was super-easy!
It was not bad valve seals after all, but a clogged up PCV system that was fixed with a little cleaning.

bump, i installed a catch can today to combat the same blue smoke at startup and some oil consumption. i will update later to see whether this fixed the problem but i was wondering more about what to do on the passenger side valve cover? run the fresh air port to the side of the manifold?

It is very easy to do - go on and tackle it this weekend!
8 mm socket, 10 mm socket, maybe a wrench in the same size for that stupid nut back by the firewall on the passenger side that is too close to the firewall.
EASY fix, seriously.
Every shop I talked to wanted to replace the valve seals and all this other nonsense that would have been expensive and would NOT have fixed the smoking problem.
NO oil consumption between oil changes on my 210,000 mile truck!
