Default recommended shift points and stuff for ls6 cam

i just put a 02 ls6 cam and springs in my 5.3 and need to get it tuned what would you guys recommend for shift points and rev limiter. it shifts waay to soon with stock settings. also what would you recommend taking out for torque management? trans is stock except vette servo and od servo. anything else is appreciated. what is the max rmp a stock 5.3 can turn? are they balanced from the factory? thanks

I'm going to say around 6300 with that cam and rev limiter a 6500. Did you install springs or pushrods as well? If not, it is recommended.

I would take out about 60% torque management for a stockish trans.

A 5.3 can turn 7k rpm when set up right.

I do not know what you mean by "balanced".

Factory motor aren't balanced like if you had a machine shop balanced it, but they have a general balance. Basickly, the weigh all the parts for many engines and then group them by weight. Then they balance cranks to match the different weight groups and then assemble the motors. They are close, but not as if your specific parts combination was balances as a unit.

I had no trouble turning my motor 6200 with that cam.

When I had that cam I was turning 6300 and it pulled well. You're gonna like it.

I'm with those guys. I still have a stock cam in it for now but my shift point is 6k across the board.
Still waiting to put the other cam in.

Edit: I know when Dirt Track Racer still had a 5.3 he shifter around 6400 or so. Always bothered me to go for a ride and the tach keeps moving past its peak point.
