Default Recieved Nelson Today / how long to relearn?

Just recieved my Nelson Tune for my LQ4 swap in my 02 Tahoe and it,s been a long two weeks! Just installed it and it barley idled, almost stalled even after road testing easy. Then I turned it off and restarted it and it idled up alot better. I re-road tested it and punched it and it seemed to have no more power than the 5.3 stock tune. Wonder if it will run better as I drive it or need to have allen send me the comp 224 cam set up!. Probally will start running into the bucks now for more power!

He sends a nice detailed install sheet, didja follow the instructions carefully? and yes, it gets better. But you should notice a big difference right in the beginning. Poor idling characteristics is common, hell alot of people can't even get a startup (I didn't).

you should be fine, call him or his brother and tell them you don't notice a difference but you are gonna give it a week or two. (Just so they know you are kinda worried and won't be surprised when you call them in 2 weeks)

Just took it for another ride and it's coming alive very well, but transmission doesnt shift nice and tight like it used to with the corvette servo. wonder if the hp and tq is causing this? The trans wont last if i tow as hard as i used too! with the 5.3. Feels like it could be slipping into 2nd alittle or is this torque manegment?

Tq management shouldn't make it feel like it is slipping. Did Nelson do any adjustments to your line pressure? Did you tell him you had the servo? Any other tranny mods? Usually these things would lead to harder shifts. Just wondering if he dropped too much line pressure if he was trying to to adjust for a shift kit that you dont have.

The idle will get better and better. My truck had to driven with 2 feet for weeks after I retuned for the 6L. Hold down the gas at a red light to keep it from stalling, or when backing up. Now it only stumbles once a week or so. Been two months.
