Default Question will F-Body computer work in Silverado

I just bought a 99 RCSB Silverado with 5.3. I have a 2001 LS1 and my F-body Computer that came out of my car, the F-Body computer is already tuned for the LS1 and I have HPtuners for it. Will the computer work or do I have to get a HPtuners for the truck computer? Thanks

Yes the PCM will work but I would do a FULL REWRITE/FLASH if you put it in your truck.

Pretty sure you will still have to buy credits to change the vin.

I have the old hp tuners, I can do as many 2001 and 1998 F bodies. So if I put the PCM in the truck I should put a stock tune back in it?

Yes, If you just take the pcm and put it in the truck I would flash it was a truck tune.

The question I still would like to know before I plug this computer in is...if I put a factory f-body tune in and install the computer in my truck is will the computer still think it is a f-body computer? My hptuners is for 01 f-bodys. I have the old hptuners so it isn't 1 vin I can use it on as many 98 and 01 f-bodys. Mine doesn't have the credits. Anyway after I but it in will it still think it is in a camaro or will something tell it that it is in a truck?

It's the same still PCM, but you will have to buy credits if you want to match it to a truck VIN.

My hptuners doesn't use credits. It is one of the first versions. I can do as many 98 and 01 f-bodies. That is why I wanted to know if I put the pcm in the truck will the pcm know it is in a truck or will still think it is in a camaro.

It doesn't know or give a **** what it's in. It is all based off of VIN and OS#, so whether or not it will work, I don't know. If you rigged up a tune with a f-body VIN and OS it might run fine in your truck, but the programmed VIN will not match the truck and it probably won't pass inspection if you have to do that.
