Default Problems with tps

Not sure if this is the right place for this but...

My truck keeps throwing a tps/app(I think its app) code. I put a new tps on it, cleared the code, it was great for about a day, then the code came back.

Ever since its done this, sometimes the truck wont rev past 2K, its never done it in park or nuetral that Ive noticed but I dont sit there and rev it up all day. lol

When it does this I can take off easily or wide open and it wont go past 2K rpm. Its not all the time, its not predictable, it just kinda happens, but it does seem more frequent when the truck is cold, but doesnt happen all the time when cold. It'll do it and I can go just down the road and floor it and it'll run just fine. And I had it hooked to a scanner going down the road and I tried to kick it down and it just went to 2K rpms and accelerated from there but the scanner was showing 99% throttle.

Another thing is the convertor doesnt seem to lock all the time, I can give it a little brake to unlock it and sometimes theres no change, and other times it sounds like it unlocks but the tach only goes up about 100 rpm. Seems like it should be more.

Im wondering if the two things have anything to do with each other. But Im pretty lost on what to do.

Edit: This is one my 01 btw, 5.3.

Im gunna get ahold of my friend that scanned it for me and see if he has it stored in his scanner. Otherwise I'll go somewhere and have them pull the code.

Well I dont know what the tps problem is because Im still throwingn that but the 2000rpm thing is the truck going into protection mode because it thinks its overheating. Why it thinks that I dunno.

have zippy look at your p0121 and see what its set at, the kpa might be too low, set the high one to 75 and leave the low at 55 this should take care of the tps

K, i'll mention it to him. He thinks I might have a short in the wiring. Same thing with the temp sensor, he said he thinks thats either bad or grounding out somehow, the truck can be at 190* and the truck thinks its overheating.

BTW whats done to your truck? Id trade my first born for 12s. lol

Well Im gunna talk to Mike about the kpa, but these were the codes it was orignally throwing.

p0300 engine misfire
p0405 egr sensor A signal short /low
p0121 tp sensor or app sensor 1 problem

The missfire and egr both went away, but Im still getting the tps code and its going into protection mode. It hasnt done protection since Zippy touched up the tune Sunday though.
