Default PCM Flash Woes... HELP!

I bought a PCM for my truck, and planned on getting it tuned professionally (one day). I connected the PCM as required, then plugged up HP Tuners so I can read what's on it. Go to read it, and I receive the license "commit" prompt, but there's one problem... I only used 4 of 8 credits when I purchased HPT, and should have 4 available credits (for VIN-specific setup). See image file below, and note that there's no option for VIN-specific licenses. According to Chris@HPTuners, the problem seems to be that the PCM has no serial # coded to it. How is this possible. Scroll back up and note what's behind the Serial # field. Is there a way to get this coded? Does the PCM need to be reflashed by GM or what? HELP!

Looks like the pcm serial was wiped via GM SPS system durring a factory update at one time or another.

It could have been that way before it got to me, Usually i dont change any of it when they come thru cause it messes with the crank relearn and serial VATS system.

hmmmm. So I could read it with Efilive, without problems...but not HPT....maybe it needs that unlock for HPT?

The Key to get into a blanked out $4000-$8000 area is always $ffff You put that key into the efilive window and it will give you access to the pcm for reading and writing. You can also use efilive to change the key to a normal key and unlock it forever.

Local tuner wants $75 to flash the PCM. I'm in the WRONG business.
