Need high idle switch for truck
#1
I need to install a high idle switch on my work truck that will hold ~ 1800 rpm.
Truck is a 2011 HD 2500 with a 6.0.
I need the rpm's for my lights and the use of an exhaust hose to try to thaw frozen valves/controllers at work.
Older trucks would allow the use of a throttle cable, but with the new fly by wire--I can't get it to work.
I know that on the diesels you can use the cruise buttons to do this. Only thing that I found for a gasser is that it can work but had to be ordered with the controller from the factory. I'll swing by the dealer tomorrow to see if it just has to be enabled, but I thought someone might know today.
I found some controllers on the net that can be plugged in between the pedal and the computer. Question is--Can I use some kind of resistor on a switch to feed slightly more voltage back to the computer to make it think that the pedal is being depressed? I assume that as the pedal is depressed, it feeds more voltage to the computer to increase engine speed.
Thanks Randy

This is on a 2011 chevy 6.0. Not the 03 Cummins in my sig. I have a twist lock throttle cable on it.
I don't think a cable will work on the chevy because I can hardly get it to maintain a constant rpm using my foot when trying to hold ~2000 rpm. It just keeps increasing the rpms at constant pedal.
