I've been away from tuning for a long time. I installed headers so now it's necessary. When I opened up my program yesterday I first got a warning screen that said I had a beta version. I don't remember if I used to get that screen or not. Now trying to tune LTFTs and STFTs, and I can't cause I only have numbers 1 and 2 in the histogram toolbar. All I've got is timing advance and knock retard. Zuh?
My laptop definitely needs a visit to the computer shop for a long overdue virus scan , do I need to reload my program? I've got the MPVI Pro version, if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Sounds like you are trying to tune a vehicle with a virtual VE table since the FT histograms are based on normal VE tables but since you don't give so much as a clue to the vehicle year and type how the hell can anyone know.
And if you have to take your computer to a shop for a virus scan should you really be trying to tune? While it is there you should also ask them to install the latest version of HP Tuners.

I'm using the same MPVI Pro program I bought back in 08 and used on my 99 Sierra LM7 and 97 Grand Prix GTP. How old of a vehicle would have a virtual VE table? Thanks for any help I can get here fellas.

I've definitely done a bit of tuning in this before. I thought I had played around with the VE tables, but now I'm second guessing myself. Maybe I'm thinking of one of my old vehicles? Would this truck have a virtual VE table? If so how would I tune the trims now that I have headers?

It is virtual VE. Im a newbie and have been trying to get things figured out. If its just headers and probably not SD only. You could mess with timing and PE tables. Should even worry about VE or VVE IMO...

You need to tune the VVE and the MAF.
Pick which one you want to tune first.
If you are tuning the VVE then you will need to fail the MAF sensor and set the MAF codes to MIL on 1st. That way the MAF is not providing any fueling info to the ECM.
Also make sure not to log the MAF sensor when tuning VE/VVE or it will throw off the numbers.
If you want to tune MAF first then set your dynamic airflow limits below idle speed and log your MAF vs fuel trims and work from there.
Pick one and get the fuel trims in line, then do the other. I usually do one, then the other, then go back and hit the first one again to make sure I'm all good.
I have kept this very broad and very basic. But, if what I have said makes sense then you can move forward. If what I have said sounds like gibberish, then you should read up for a while to make sure you have sound practices and you aren't going to do major damage to your engine.
And do not shortcut it and skip tuning the VE/VVE.
Now that HPTuners has VVE editing capability built into the software, there are no excuses to half way tune one.
