Default HPTuners VS EFILive

I'm looking to start doing my own tuning for my truck. I just wanted some pros and cons. Which one is easier for a newb? Which one as more paramaters you can edit? You know, questions like that. I'm leaning towards HPTuners. I'm doing a 4.8 to 408 swap and would like to do the tuning myself(after I get some time in the tuning saddle). Let me know what you guys prefer and why. I want to get some tuning software in the next month. I'll start tuning with the stock drivetrain in the truck 1st so I can know what works and what doesnt. When I get the engine and transmission built I'll kinda be half-*** smart about this stuff.

Thanks
J

Tuning isn't easy. All i have to say is do alot of reading and study up on it before you buy.

If your gonna go with EFILive, I'd do it SOON! Price it going up Sept 12 2011.

As for which is better... That's beating a dead horse, do a search, it's been hashed out 100 times!

I have hp tuners with no regrets, but I do like the autocal feature of efi live. From what I understand hp tuners is working on there version as we speak

You will find more beginners support for HP Tuners as far as books and tutorials go. However, if I were you I would try and find a reputable tuner local to you and look into purchasing the software he uses so he can get you on the ground with a safe tune for your investment, and then begin to adjust things on your own as you wish. If you havent looked into tuning much you might become overwhelmed pretty quickly, and a 408 definitely isnt the place to begin lol

My truck was tuned with HP Tuners and eventually I will pick it up so I can fine tine and tweak with it and make changes when I get new mods or am at the track. I have lots of learning to do but can also always bug who currently tunes my truck for help and advice

I have efiive and have had for several years. I have done about 80 vehicles including about 3 or 4 of my own. I love it, no charge for custom operating systems, simple licensing, great tutorials, etc. etc.

I have been looking into HP because I have a 2010 Camaro with the t43 trans module, HP has 2 times the paramters for that module vs what efilive has. It seems EFI has ventured over towards the diesel market and the support for the gas burners has slowed.

I will probably end up with both, I prefer EFILive but like the coverage of HP.

can't go wrong with hptuners, alot more support on hp tuners..

1: 80% of tuners user hp tuners // 20% efi live
2. alot more websites and support on hp tuners.
3. if you decide to sell interface in future, they sell like hot bread.
4. most books, dvd's, guides, seminars are based on hp tuners.

but you pick your poison, they both do the same thing..

I have hptuners that I am just starting to use but I did download EFIlive just to compare it. Is it just me or does EFIlive have a lot more parameters to mess with? Or maybe I am doing something wrong and it isn't showing all of them?
