Default HPTuners + Tune?

Hello. I want to learn how to tune eventually. I think I'd be good at it in the long run. I've never done any tuning like this before.

Here's what I'm wondering.

I was planning of going with a Black Bear tune and purchasing the tuning hardware as well. That way I'd get a tune, and have the ability to tweak the tune as I do more upgrades.

My truck is going to go from stock to a procharged setup with different injectors, LS1 efans, 4L80E, NP149, and Yank SC3000 torque converter, all in one fell swoop. So thats a bit much for me to start tuning with on my own.

I was doing more research, and discovered that EFILive only tunes GM vehicles. If I learn to tune and end up loving it, I would like to be able to tune my other vehicles, or even my friends vehicles. That's where HPTuners comes in. It can tune Fords, Chevys, and Dodges.

So, does anyone offer a deal where I can purchase a mail-order tune with the HPTuners hardware? That way I have an experienced tuner set me up with my new power adders, and have the ability to change parameters on my own?

I looked at the sponsors and didn't really see anything.

Do I just have to order the mail-order tune by itself, and then order the hardware separately?

Thanks fellas!

Ill just throw my .02 in there too! I have hptuners and to me its not the most user friendly tuning software on the market today, i have never messed with efi live but i do hear good things about it.....This is not the same scenerio that everyone is gonna have but i would definantly get some pro tuners opinions about which tuning software will be on the better side of "User Friendly Tuning".... what i mean by this is a tuning software you dont have to write in computer code or have to take 4 yrs of college classes to understand fully...... If you do go with hpt just make sure to get a afr sensor that is already set up in the system to work with the histograms! Good Luck p.s. i have that book and it tought me more than anyone or internet has period, i highly recommend it!!

I feel that HPT is the most beginner friendly software on the market.

I agree.

I've toyed with several other software packages and theres really nothing close to as simple to navigate through in my opinion.

You can download our demo software to try for yourself http://files.hptuners.com/support/msi/DemoSoftware.msi

Not every question gets answered on every forum, most people will only respond to threads they have personal experience in, including myself, I'm not going to try and give somebody bad advice just to give advice or what have you. With nearly 20,000 posts on our forum I've given alot of advice on our forum but most if not all was from personal experience or experience from other customers that I've noted through the years.

Regarding custom histograms the demo's section of our getting start portion of the help forum has a demo on exactly how to create a custom histograms, this should at least get you pointed in the right direction.
