Ive never used EFILive but Ive used HPT and HPT seems to be much more user friendly...you can download a version of EFILive on their website to see whatcha think...

EFI live hands down. I'm sure this is gonna be one of those things that each person who has either will recommend that, but I truly believe that EFI live is superior. There is much more support on this forum for EFI live. I can log on and there's usually one of several people on here very familiar with EFI live that can help me out. I can't speak for HPT, but I can tell you that the learning curve on EFI live is very good. It's very easy to navigate through. Also, seeing Silver-mod-O's issues with HPT and doing a 4l80e tune swap just seals the deal. Having to send your tune to someone else and then wait weeks for a response is just comical considering that defeats the entire purpose of having the software yourself. So bottom line is, IMO, go EFI live, but either way you will be fine because overall I think HPT is a much more widely used program, and obviously people like it.

I have never used either one but after hearing what Ben had to go through I ordered EFI live. I agree... What's the point of having tuning software if you can't tune you vehicle the way you want.

HPTuners is capable of tuning many different types of vehicles where as EFI Live is more limited I believe, so if you think you are going to end up tuning here and there for a buddy or two maybe HPT would be better. HPT also comes out with updates fairly regularly that make big changes that add more tables for tuning and add additional vehicles to tune. If just tuning your own vehicle(s) pick one program, learn it, use it and forget about it.

My vote is for efi live, I am not by any means a tunning guy but I was able to do very basic things without know how right out the box. I also like the stand alone logging of efi live (no need for the laptop). with the new version (still being updated) you will be able to store and upload tunes without the laptop.
