I like the help file, and the demos are nice too. I checked out a few of them. When I get more time this week I will check out all of them. I work in the computer industry so I am always on a computer, except when I am asleep. Although I have started many downloads of large software packages or backups of data and let them run while I was asleep, then get back to them when I wake up. Thanks for your work on those files and demos. They will definately make it easier to learn the HPTuners software.

Also remember hptuners is a software company not a tuning company...they offer you the tools to tune YOURSELF...there are several tuning classes out there you can pay to take & learn how to tune or at least give you some ideas, but there isnt just one way to tune & tuning varies TREMENDOUSLY from car to car truck to truck, etc. Someone tuning a 97 2.2 S-10 probably shouldnt take advice from someone that only knows how to tune his 06 Corvette...COMPLETELY different so they can't just throw a generic tuning guide together...tuning isnt a one size fits all hobby.

yeh i did some more reading today and found the help files on the editor and more on the stickies on the forum and found out a whole lot. i need a wideband asap and my new unlocked pcm will be here wednesday from allen nelson. so i will learn a lot when i can see what changes he made and why and then look at the stock pcm parameters. i am definately enjoying it so far its just so much to soak up at one time.

Is anyone gonna add to the tuning 101 thread anytime soon. I read about adjusting the VE tables and Spark tables without a wideband, I want to read about how to do it WITH a wideband, and also that thread says PE tuning next and nothing is there. Topic is closed as of 09/11/2006. Anyone want to keep that thread going? I am reading it. Looks like from the number of views lots of people have read it.
Is tuning with the wideband easier and better than tuning without it like it says in the tuning 101 thread? Sorry, but I haven't read up on tuning with a WB yet, so if I ask a stupid question I can't help it. Can someone post some good quality links to tuning help with a Wideband? I will be ordering an AEM unit very soon.

im sure somebody can explain it better but from what iv read so far the stock 02's arent very accurate and they can only read so far up or down on the stoich table. i guess thats why they call it a narrowband???? and a wideband is very accurate throught the stoich table this migh be why its called a wideband??? im not sure but this makes sense to me. what is a better/easier to use wideband the aem or the lm1? any other top of the line wideband? hell i bought a new $1000 laptop and the pro version so i might as well not cut a corner no buying a cheap wideband.

I think the narrowbands are accurate, it's just that they drop off from stoich really fast. In other words, barely lean will read as very lean compared to a wideband which would tell you that you are only a little bit lean.
If you have ever been into stereo it's like the crossovers, 18dB per octave is a much sharper rolloff from the center frequency than a 12dB per octave crossover. 18db/octave rolloff would be like the narrowband O2. Am I right? Someone else chime in here.

I just got mine today also. So far from what I saw in the help sections looks pretty cool. I havent had much time to mess with it yet, too busy at work and 5 month old son, our 1st kid. do you guys recommend getting a tune from nelson first? I also found a dyno somewhat close to me that has used HPT's before, Maybe I should go to them and maybe learn somthing about it while Its on the dyno.

if i had it to do over again i would have just gotten hptuners and been done with it. but i guess you live and learn handheld programmer-->mailorder-->your own tuning software/dynotune.

I guess I made the right choice going straight to hptuners from the start. I never bought a HH programmer. Why spend $300 on a HH programmer and gain just a few horses, learn absolutely nothing when for as little as $200 more you could have the tools to tune not only your own vehicle but others as well. And actually learn what makes it work, not just pay $300 for 15rwhp and not learn a thing.
I am reading as much as I can everyday. I want to start the process of custom tuning my truck soon, but I may have to ask a few questions here.

I just got my Hptuners last week and the laptop this week. I need to spend some time on it this weekend. Truck is running sort of sluggish. I have my 2006 PCM still so I can work with that one as soonas I figure out were to start.
