Your truck isnt anything out of the ordinary to tune. You dont really have anything tuff to tune. If you dont have a built trans i wouldnt remove all of the TM. Maybe just 60%-75%. That really depends on you and how you drive it. The 160stat and 4.10 gears are just simple math changes. Do some VE tuning and away you go.

Sounds like your buddy has some reading to do because these are just the basics.

engine tuning is going to be pretty much same for car/truck. Like George said above, leaving some TM in for a stock trans is a good idea.

Having someone email you their tune isn't a good idea and most are reluctant to do so. Take the time to read the sticky's at the top of the section, enjoy!

2500HD..... you have the 4L80e trans....I'd be tempted to take it all out.

Yes good catch Bill. If it was me i would take it all out if you have a 4l80e trans. Sorry didnt see that before....most of us have or started with a 4l60e. The 4l60e is known to take a . Lots of guys on here run stock 4l80e trans with good outcomes. but you are the only one that knows what the trans has been through and how well it works. hope this helps

Most pro tuners wont take it all out if the trans isnt built. or at least they wont recommend it for their sake. the difference between 70%-80% isnt going to be that noticalbe. Just call it 70% and see how you like it and how you think it is reacting. if you want more take some more out.

If you think about it you can break a trans with all of the TM left on. If your a guy that likes the really hard downshifts and does it all the time....i would remove less to try and prolong the life of the trans. but the 4l80e can take more abuse than say a 4l60e trans.
