Nelson uses HPTuners(unless something has changed). Using HPT, he may have just un-clicked the "SES enable" box. The DTC will still set, but the light will not come on.

Not sure if that's what you're dealing with, would have to look at your tune file to better answer.

I wouldn't imagine a Veteran tuner such as Nelson would be making that mistake. There's always a chance he might have missed it on this particular tune, but it's pretty standard stuff for people with LT's and no cats.

I agree, but we're all human. Everybody makes mistakes.

Well I'm also in Texas and have the same type of inspection, never had a problem. And neither have anyone else I know in this area that have tunes.

Terravast4, How are you able to pass to drive your vehicle? I just want to be able to drive this legally, I dont care how I get a sticker on it. I am going to try everything like Scott posted.

Like 00ChevyScott showed, disable the reporting of the sensors. This eliminates the throwing of fault codes. Then, set your tune to run E85. Since it smells different and is much cleaner, there will not be the same unleaded fuel smell you noted. If there is no tail pipe emission test, then you should be okay. Can I assume you have gutted catalytic converters? It is illegal to disable emission settings and devices, so perhaps Nelson is being careful. It is difficult to say.

I actually have high flow cats. I am not running rear O2's though. The person doing my inspection just cares about when he plugs it in. Every vehicle I own is completely safe to be operating on the highway, and I am not worried that he would fail me for anything like a smell. When I use EFI Live there are no DTC codes, but if i run a cheap handheld scanner on it, the lights that are on will apparently not let it pass an inspection. I will grab a pic in a bit of it.
