Just an update on this. Have had 3 other people reach out and confirm this worked for them. I have also done it on two more customer trucks and one more swapped dbw vehicle running the 03-07 setup.

Interesting thread for me to run across. I am about to finish wiring up a CNP 24x SBC setup I swapped intake manifolds on. I have several of these TAC modules from 2001-2002 8.1L vans and trucks with the matching pedals. Also have several 07+ truck throttle bodies that will bolt right to the 92mm intake manifold flange on the Indmar marine manifold on the SBC. Sure will simplify my throttle cable and cruise control setup.

So I did this mod, and can confirm it works with no issues. The only problem I had is I lost 75% of the logging channels in HP Tuners. Basically making the truck un tune able. I went through and deleted all my saved vehicles in the scanner. Saved my truck again as a vechile, and did a repoll of parameters. Still nothing. I think the older TAC module isn’t liking the PCM for some reason. And this was all within the span of an hour. Scanner worked fine before the swap

What happens if you unplug the TAC module and or plug in your old module? I was under the impression it was a dedicated link between the pcm and TAC for safety reasons.

I'm going to try that tonight. Did you happen to use your hp tuners scanner when you did your swap? Curious if you can see, or have the same issue I have

I'm going to re install VCM scanner to the latest version and see if that also helps. Its odd I'm having this issue but I've seen stranger things happen on these older Gen 3's

So I did end up fixing my issue. I did 2 things. The first thing I did was disconnect the battery for a few hours. The second thing is I deleted my current VCM suite, and re installed it. I’m not sure which was the fix. But now my problem is solved and I can live happily again.

As more people move to do this mod I’m sure someone will run into the same case I did.

I have had this setup over 15 years and several different tunes and throttle body’s with no issues at all. The only issue I have ever had in that regard was with a faulty X-link which took a long time to figure that out.
