I'm a master tech and have (i think) a pretty good grab on everything and how it works but have never gotten into the whole doing my own tuning thing.
The reason I ask is my tuner one of my buddies is moving away and wont be easily accesible for re-tunes, so i think i want to get the program have him unlock his tune and me start from there. Another reason I'm going this way is because I just got a FREE laptop from Snap-on for buying a new tool box. So now I wont have to buy a laptop and then the HPtuners program.
How much would a basic HPtuners system cost, and what all would I need to get started?
Thanks in advance guys,
-Joshua

First, buy the "pro" version.
Second, since you already understand all the aspects of mechanics I would think it will be a breeze for you to figure out.
You only need the program and the hardware it comes with.

It's not as hard as you might think. Just a lot to learn and seems over whelming to start. Lots of reading to start and there is are a lot of people willing to help you. Jump right in you won't regret it!
Standard is $499
Pro is $649
I would get the Pro right from the start if I were you. Just the benefit of stand alone logging is worth the extra cost.

I concur. If you are already a freaking mechanic, wow...as long as your are computer literate, it will be a breeze. Go PRO. I again like the last thread I posted in, agree with xsports33!
