Default having trouble with nelson tune

i ordered a nelson tune off anotyher guy on here and im having problems with it. it ran fine fo the first 30 miles or so then my check engine light came on and it falls on it face now from a dead stop , it has NO low end at all!! i put the tune in along with the 24lb injectors because i was told the pcm was updated for em. i have access to hp tuners but cant get into the pcm because nelson locked it. i called them and they said they do that because of people messing with the pcm and wanting them to fix it. i understand their reasoning behind that,i just want to fix my tune. they said because i wasnt the original buyer that i would have to send it back to him to get it retuned by them , if not i could send it to them and they would set it back to stock. because i have acces to hp tuners i could get my buddy to tune it but i would rather just avoid the down time and let my buddy with hp tuners erase the nelson tune and make me a custom tune . is this possible? is there a way to unlock it without sending it back, or can it be done with hp tuners?

I'm confused. You bought a tuned PCM that was tuned for someone else's truck and you're having problems?

Can I assume your truck is the same make, model and year?

It is dying because the tune was not for your specific truck...When you installed it it went through a learning process to adapt to your vehicle and for whatever reason couldn't get there...You really took a chance putting that PCM in your ride without it being tuned specifically for your engine...

The only chance you stand is to get a stock tune with IFR changes to account for the new injectors and do a complete write to overwrite the OS that is in there now. I still am not sure that will work on a locked PCM.

I tune with HP Tuners but have never tried to overwrite a Locked PCM. I know Allen as well, so I would suggest if you cannot do a full write, send the PCM to him for the stock rewrite and go from there...

Good Luck.....

Yea, Sucks that you wasted your money on that tune meaning that you cant use it. Hopefully you didnt pay out the A$$ for it.

the pcm i bought was for the same model year and make truck and didnt have to many specifics, but it was already programmed for the 24lb ionjectors . it also had the rear 02's deleted and no speed limiter, shift points changed, shift firmness changed, and it was a 93 hot tune.so it should work, the main reason i bought it was because it was an updated to a 02 pcm and it was supposed to be unlocked. so hopefully my buddy with hp tuners can reflash it and start from scratch.if not i guess ill send it back to nelson and let him tune it back to stock and then let my buddy tune it.man this sucks...

hey guys, not familiar with locked tunes either...what a ballbuster, locked tunes. Allen is a pretty standup guy and i was wondering, if you have access to hpt (assuming it's licensed for your truck) can't you have Allen email you a tune instead. Cheaper and he may be willing to unluck and not offer any future upgrades for a lower price. How much did you pay for the '02 pcm tuned and locked by Allen? I can't imagine a hot tune, shift points, speed limiter, tune affecting your low end or off the line throttle.

Have you stopped by a local parts store and found out what the SES is? Maybe it has nothing to do with the tune? (I am not being pro-Allen, just saying) You in limp mode for some reason? maybe your code is a crapped out o2? Who knows. Find out what your code is. I am sure it is related to your ill performance.

im thinkin my ses light m,ight be on because we never did a crank relearn. that might have caused it to come on. but my low end/off the line power was just the same before the tune. i dont think the tune messed it up i just want to get into the pcm to fix it.i paid 150$ from a guy on here, that took it off his truck, does anyone know if you can reflash a locked pcm with hp tuners. im going to see what the code is today when i get off work.i mainly bought the pcm because i didnt have to wait and it was already calibrated like the 02 and up pcms and ready for the 24lb injectors.

i ont think the truck will recognize the other VIN # in the tune you bought.Allen locks his tunes to protect himself from copying and people messing up their motors and blaming him. cant be mad at that.

Just cut your losses, deal with some down time and send it off to Nelson.
