Ok, I got a christmas gift for myself...the Hypertech Max Energy Power Programmer. Mainly to clear my DTC's from my header install. But my question is...what is the best program for my application? I am a beginner to all this "performance" stuff so what are some settings for the things this programmer will change like, top speed limiter, Engine Rpm "rev" limiter, Transmission shift points and firmness, etc.
What have you other Hypertech guys done.
My truck is an 05 Sierra 5.3L and my performance stuff is in my sig.

Well, its like I said it was mainly to clear off the DTC's that were being thrown off because of my rear 02's being gone after the header install. I know an HP tune would be better, but no one in my area has it for my year model and I am not going to dump that much cash on it for just myself. This was a quick and dirty way to get it done.

Set it on the 93 tune
Bump up all shift points
turn up firmness
etc
etc
the changes will be enough to be felt SOTP but not dramatic enough to hurt anything.
Make sure you turn off your onstar by pulling the fuse before loading AND ALWAYS return to stock when you take your truck to the dealership. I had a HPP3 and forgot, they over wrote it and when I tried to reload the program it fried the PCM.
Otherwise it worked ok

ok so my response was a little over the line
but seriously how can anyone buy one of these things after reading all of our horror stories with hypertech stuff? for prolly half the price he coulda got a sweet wheatley tune and done all the stuff and more than a hypertech.
let me congratulate you on your first steps to the performace side

I am in Cabot and I use EFILive. Search on LS1Tech and you'll see I have had pretty good results.

A hypertech will only clear DTC's. They are going to keep coming back though. You'll need to set the DTC to "no error reported" or no MIL. It's not a quick adn dirty way to get it done. Honestly, I would take a wait4me tune over a hypertech after using one.
