ok so after dreading this for several weeks, i know i have a leak, i just need to find out where. i figure the best/easiest way to fix the problem is to just replace the entire line from tank to fuel rails. what is involved in this, how difficult is it, and how much would a new fuel line run me?

sniff around, when the smell of gas is strongest, youve found the leak.

Have you looked at the spark plugs?

if you have a fuel leak you are gonna smell it. unless its the tank there is noway for it to only leak while sitting. pull the vacuum hose off your fuel pressure regulator and see if its wet.

all you need is a spark plug socket, costs like $4. You can use a regular one but you are more likely to crack the insulation.

wierdest thing ever... my gas mileage seems to have gone back up. mixed mileage on the way to Panama City Beach and driving around town was about 16 mpg now i don't know what to think. in the next few days, i'm changing my oil and i'll see if i can either drop the tank or at least change the filter.

I notice about a 1.5 mpg drop with 10% ethenol. I also agree that Shell is "supposed" to not have any ethenol in north AL. It usually runs $.05 higher a gallon so that may be why. I don't notice a big change with just 1 tank swapping to 100%. Usually the second tank is when the fuel trims have had time to re-adjust that I see a difference.
