Fog light switch wiring
#1
I have a 04 silverado that did not come with fog lights installed I got a set of OEM fog light housings to install I checked on line and it said if i do the oem setup I have to have the truck programed by the dealer to make it all work ($140 cost) not up for that rather put that money in go fast stuff
so heres the question can a OEM fog light switch be wired to a aftermarket relay?
I'm going to install HID's and use a relay wiring kit but instead of putting a hole someplace for a switch can I add the OEM for light switch and use it to run the after market relay harness?
I can get wires to the switch from under the hood if needed thats not a problem
thanks

The OE switch is merely a ground trigger for the BCM. Once you release the button there is no more electricity flowing through. You'd be better off installing a toggle switch (or simply hooking them up to the low beams).

I'd like to keep it stock looking on the inside I just dont know what what wires I need from the switch and if its positive or negative current that will be turning on a relay
