Default Extremely weird tahoe stuff. Need help please

Ok I did a heads cam intake swap on a 02 tahoe. Intake was a nnds with edelbrock 90. Drive by cable. Ok apperently on the guys way home down to keywest the truck started accelerating on it's own. So he put it in neutral and it went to red line so he pulled over and turned off the key and pulled it out. Much to his surprise the engine was still bouncing off the rev limiter. So he had to pull the batt cable. So WTF could have caused this. He ask me about the tune. I told him there was no "keep running" option in the tune. He has remote start that I had to cut a wire from the coil pack that I never put back. I told him to do it. I realize a vac leak would be aboutthe only thing to let it run to redline with out the throttle being open. Unless a wide open idle air can do it. So what should I have him look at? I haven't seen the truck since he left so I have no clue. Sounds like crap to me but I don't know. Never heard of this before.

Cruise control adjuster? If the adjuster is loose then it will spin into the holder, which in turn will cause the throttle to be stuck open.

The running with the key out though is gonna be a wiring issue related to that remote start, most likely.

Well I don't think I put the cruise cable back on to be honest.

I agree about the remote start.

Definitely wiring, I'm sure your tune and mechanical work is fine.

It did have a CEL forthe gas tank pressure sensor being shorted. And when I had it there were random times where every light including the batt and security light on the dash would light up. And you loose fuel and oil pressure. It would run kinda off also. The fuel tank press sensor shares power (iirc) with maf, tps and many other very important sensors. I made him buy the tank sensor. It's sitting in his glove box. He is just too lazy to fix it.

Ok he just called. He had to put the belt back on. It threw it when he cut the power wire. And the power steering blew the fill cap off. He fired it up a few days ago and it started like nothing ever happened. No leaks no noise just purr like a kitten.

Bizarre. Somehow, I don't think you're being told the entire story.

Threw the belt when he cut the power wire while the PS cap was ejecting from the engine bay? Sounds like a bad alien horror movie here.

If he loaded the alternator up that badly he might want to check the fusible link- should have gotten pretty toasty. Otherwise I don't see disconnecting the battery killing the truck.

PS: For future reference, tell him it's a hell of a lot easier to pull the fuel pump relay.

yeah it sounded like a load of bull to me too. but he said the power steering pump was very very hot and it blew up, then he said it blew the cap off and fluid went every where. then he said he cut the battery wire with a pair off cutters he happen to have and it threw the belt as it shut down. funny thing is that the type of vacuum leak that it would require to sit at fuel cut does not just go away on its own like that. oh and he said when he first went to start it again 2 months later mind you, he said it idled like crap so he shut it off. he looked it over again and found #1&#3 spark plug wires hanging off the coils and not attached to the plugs. he started it back up and it ran fine and shut down fine. i ask him if the throttle was stuck open during this and he said he checked it and it wasn't. i have no clue. this is one uild i wish i would have never done.

it started of as "hey help me do up my tahoe" i said ok and he talked like he understood how things work. then after i get the heads off it turned into "i'm really not sure what i'm doing here and i have to leave for school for 4 weeks tomorrow". he said he would pay me to do it. and all i got was a set of spark plug wires. not real happy with the whole deal at all. then i find out his nick name is "blue falkon" aka buddy ******. lmao
