Default Evap Purge Solenoid (Will I miss it ? )

Of what possible use is the " Purging "of EVAP system ?
Does the PCM use this solenoid to make a periodic test of fuel system vacuum integrity, using manifold sourced vacuum ?
.
If it fell off, would I miss it ?

It is used to 'purge' the fuel tank of vaporized fuel to meet HC emissions requirements. It is connected to the manifold so the engine can burn the vapor.

Well, that depends. Do you have sentimental attachments to inanimate objects?

Is charcoal in the little plastic can, back behind fuel tank, near axle ?
Would that nylon tube be suitable for filling the tank from a smaller auxilliary ( reserve) fuel tank, with it's own submersible fuel pump ?

The charcoal canister is about the size of a football. It is in front of the tank on my truck.
